All the Kennametal tool holders listed below use the KM coupling system designed to provide simultaneous face and taper contact. They all support through spindle coolant. We have used KM, Capto, and CAT tooling and found the KM system to be capable of taking the heaviest cuts, and giving the finest finish. It is a very rigid system. If you want to maximize the performance of your Integrex, your need to also consider the integral shank tooling as we have used. In order to achieve maximum versatility on an Integrex you often need to extend the tool holder out part the turning spindles. A KM extension, or KM reducer allow for this, with virtually no loss in rigidity. KM reducers allow you to use smaller more versatile tools, but extend them far enough to eliminate the risk of collisions with your turning spindles.

On an Integrex Left and Right hand tools are essentially irrelevant since you can flip the tool and reverse the spindle to use either left or right handed tools. In some case where back side turning is required you will need a specific handed tool to fit into the space available without wiping out the turret. On the flash tools, you MUST use left hand tools to avoid the need to shift the tool body off the centerline.

This tool uses a .202" wide insert and is essential for parting off between spindles when a long overhang is required.

This tool holder INCLUDES the cutoff blade, although the blade has a damaged pocket on one end. The other one is perfectly usable.

This is probably one of my all time favorite tools and is used in virtually every turned part. Typically used as a facing and OD turning tool with B at 45 degrees on head 1 and 135 degrees on head 2. It is the most rigid roughing tool you can use with CNMG 432 inserts and easily capable of 0.17" depth of cuts in 8620 at healthy feed rates. Our magazine almost always had one of these in a steel grade, another in aluminum, and another with finishing inserts. We kept other heads pre loaded with spares for other materials and swapped them through the tool layout screen as needed.

This is a super handy tool. We we're so happy with the CNMG version of this tool that we had Kennametal custom build us a tool holder to hold the VNMG inserts. This is the ONLY tool holder we have ever used that doesn't end up with the VNMG insert walking in the pocket and making it impossible to hold fine finishes or close tolerances. With this tool we no longer were forced to use less rigid stick tools. It's great for facing, turning, fine profiling, etc. If you make V groove pulleys, serpentine pulleys, or intricate turned parts, this tool will make your life simpler.

This tool head is designed to hold KM25 heads (You need to use the left hand style to allow the insert tip to come on the centerline for use in Mazatrol).

This tool was designed to use a short KM63 extension to allow it to fit in the magazine chain. We modified all of ours by making a small notch opposite the index hole so that it would fit in the chain directly without and extension, making it more rigid, and not requiring us to describe it as a heavy tool. You need the flash tool option to use this in Mazatrol, but you can define it and use it in EIA without this option.

KM25 heads come in almost any style. You can mount CNMG, VNMG, DNMG, grooving and cutoff inserts, etc in them. The one show allowed us to hold a pair of CNMG inserts, and a pair of VNMG inserts. This gave us roughing and finishing tools on one Mini turret, and greatly reduced the tool change cycle time on several parts. This tool worked great for roughing and finishing the face and OD of the parts on either head, freeing up several magazine pockets. In a typical 100 part run, we could shave almost 200 minutes off the cycle time vs. Using individual tools. The heads typically paid for themselves in just a few jobs.

For multiple parts runs, it's simple to mount say 3 roughing tools and 1 finishing tool on a single head. It's a great way to keep backup tooling available and still not tie up your magazine.

This is the same tool shown above only it has KM 3225 collets mounted. 
The tapers are the same, except the 3225 is a centerline tool, whereas the KM25 tool is offset to bring the tool tip on the centerline.

We used this tool to mount a center drill, drill, small boring bar, and a circlip grooving tool in one mini turret. Because you need to shift this tool off the machine centerline in Y to allow the tool tip to be on the machine centerline, and rotate the B angle to bring the insert on centerline, we had to program this tool in a manual process or in EIA. A very useful tool that saves a lot of time, especially on the subspindle.

This is one seriously kick ass tool. It was designed by Mazak for the Integrex to function inside Mazatrol with the flash tooling option. To those who have never used them, they look like a very expensive end mill, and if that's what you plan on using it for there are loads of cheaper options, although it makes a very rigid endmill since it has an integral shank.

To those with a bit more creativity, this is an end mill, drill, boring bar, turning and facing tool with rough and finish inserts, a threading tool, an ID and OD threading tool, and a grooving tool. We typically had it defined over a dozen ways. You want to talk about cycle time reduction. On 3 specific parts, we went from 14 - 17 minutes, swapping several tools back and forth, to just under 5 minutes using only 2 tools plus the flash tool.

Do the math 12 minutes x 100 parts = 20 hours of cycle time reduction just by changing the tools used to make your part. Once you get used to using them you'll never go back.

Typically used on a short KM63 extension to allow the tool to fit between spindles, this makes a very rigid tool for turning and facing on head 1 or head 2. To use on the opposite spindle you simply define the tool as flipped and rotate the spindle the other direction.

This is the same tool as shown above installed in a longer KM63 extension. This is about the most rigid boring bar you can use in an Integrex and has no problems taking herky cuts without deflection or chatter.

This is a unique tool that we used on our Smart Turns. It's a KM63UT tool rather than a KM63XMZ. It will fit directly in the spindle if you hand load it, since the taper is identical, but the index notches are different than KM63XMZ so it can't go directly in the magazine. It can be loaded into a KM63 extension however, and this gives you a unique neutral turning tool. What's so unique about it you ask?

This tool uses a CNMG insert as shown in the tool above, only it has the insert mounted sideways from the normal use. Rather than use the tips of the insert, it allows you to use the middle corners that you typically throw away. This is a great way to get FREE INSERTS that you would normally toss away. You can turn right up to a shoulder with them, but they are great for roughing off material, or for use in interrupted turning where you don't want to sacrifice your new inserts.

The following tools all require some form of adapter to allow them to work directly in the spindle or magazine chain because the tools taper is a smaller version of the KM system. We have found these to be more useful for smaller features, or close tolerance work, and far more rigid than stick tools secured by screws. I can pretty much guarantee that you'll be happy with them. We certainly were.
